Early January

Early January brought a welcome relief from the rain, but it was bitterly cold. Phil constructed a ‘home inside the Chapel’ so he and the team could keep warm when they were having a cup of tea. Essential.

Removing the render has made a huge impression on the building. Painstaking work, but really worthwhile.

Work is continuing on at the rear of the building. The roof is now removed and covered in tarpaulin. The wall can now be taken down, carefully.

We took it down to the window cills and it was still not vertical so we removed it all the way to the ground, hoping that the wall would be straight at this point so we could leave the footings. Paul Dodd, our Building Control inspector, came in to check and we were extremely happy to find the footing are OK.
