With every month that passes, we get busier and busier. May has seen so many different developments, let’s recap a few! Every aspect of the Chapel build gets our full attention, from the garage doors to the colour of the guttering. Water holes were emptied and filled with concrete before the beams and concrete blocks…

April Showers
April had many hurdles to overcome, mainly with the floor. With the increased amount of water seeping in from the River Test, filling the holes in the Chapel, even the digger struggled not to sink through the floor. All that soil has to go somewhere.. We are thankful April came with a new roof !…
Flooding of Whitchurch
‘Evil Atlantic depression’ is what the random heavy downfall of rain is being blamed on, and with rain comes floods, and it didn’t take long for the water to rise through the entire Chapel. We weren’t the only ones effected in Whitchurch though, with local shops and pubs feeling the stain from the rain and…

Roof Roof

Then specially designed Link Channels are snap fitted to the battens to form an interlocking grid system. And finally our slates are slotted…
February
The back wall was taken down in January – before it fell down and we are now ready to rebuild. For the first time we have building materials on site, rather than the constant removal of rubbish to date. With scaffolding up for the roofers, this is the first time that the team has seen the Chapel…
The Team
Our team is growing as are the developments with the Chapel! Even with the English weather, we are pushing on to hopefully move in before Christmas and once again have our tree lit up outside as is tradition in Whitchurch. Keep an eye out for more updates..
Early January
Early January brought a welcome relief from the rain, but it was bitterly cold. Phil constructed a ‘home inside the Chapel’ so he and the team could keep warm when they were having a cup of tea. Essential. Removing the render has made a huge impression on the building. Painstaking work, but really worthwhile. Work is continuing on…
December progress
Clearing the site has revealed the Chapel for the first time. The front roof slates have been removed an a tarpaulin is now keeping the front section relatively water tight. Turning our attention to the rear workshop, we notice with horror that the rear wall is badly compromised. It has been pushed over centre by…
